Last year I discovered the Brooklyn Tweed website. I still have not had the chance to try their yarns since they are located in the US and the duty fees are always so unpredictable that you can easily end up with astronomical fees making the purchase of yarn more complicated. However, they do have a lot of amazing patterns, which with the click of a « Buy » button, you end up with a PDF and off you go knitting your new project. It is through them that I discovered the designer Hannah Fettig and her pattern Willard Fair Isle. I started the sweater last winter and finished it early this fall. It was my first foray into colorwork since my knitting classes 4 years ago and I loved it! I was finally able to take some proper photos of the sweater over my Christmas vacation, although you can’t really tell it’s winter by the lack of snow, but there is ice.
I really loved knitting this « yoke » sweater which is more typical to Nordic countries. I will definitely look for a new pattern/design to knit up for next winter. For now, you can see the details of my Willard here.
For now, I’ve started knitting the Teegan sweater with Julie Asselin’s Leizu DK yarn which is just wonderful to work with…and the color is sooo beautiful. You can follow my progress on my Ravelry page here.
